From Las Palmas to a passion for education and children's literature: a journey through culture, music and the development of an educational vision.
Born and raised in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, I have been deeply influenced by Spanish culture and way of life from the very start.
After completing my A-levels in Germany, I had the opportunity to travel and work in various inspiring locations such as Paris, Milan, New York, and others across the globe. These experiences allowed me to meet diverse people and encounter new perspectives. Since completing my studies at the University of Hamburg, I have been working with great enthusiasm as a Music and English teacher, supporting children and young people in their educational journey.
As both a musician and educator, I have gained profound insights into the importance of healthy relationships for children’s learning and development. These relationships are not only shaped by bonds with their parents but are also significantly influenced by the connections they form with their key caregivers at school. For this reason, I have always taken a holistic approach to children's education, treating them as equals, in the spirit of Jesper Juul’s philosophy.
Each of us carries conscious and unconscious experiences that shape our personalities. These include early childhood traumas that, while difficult to articulate, often manifest through certain reactions and behaviours — as Bessel van der Kolk puts it, “The body keeps the score.” When working with children, whose lives are just beginning, it is particularly important to recognise and respect their individuality. Only when children feel accepted and secure can they develop fully and embrace new learning experiences.
In fact, many adults continue to carry the effects of early childhood experiences, often unknowingly passing on learned behaviours to the next generation. Understanding this common pattern led me to explore trauma and trauma sensitivity in depth.
My motivation comes from a deep understanding of how crucial it is to support children’s emotional and mental health, providing them with a solid foundation for life. As both an educator and therapist, I strive to offer a safe space where children can realise their potential and live fulfilling, self-determined lives.
I warmly invite you to share your story with me, in trust and confidence.
